730407

Montreal University

Here is my bit of info regarding Procols's Montréal gig at the Centre Sportif de l'Université de Montréal. I was there and it was excellent. The Grand Hotel features were, the rest too. You may add the support artist, the legendary Roger Rodier, who did one LP for Columbia Upon Velveatur. He played solo, no band. His album was recently reissued in the UK. Voilà!

Ricardo Valdes, 'a dedicated fan since Shine on Brightly', attended this show, 'a fantastic concert for all the hardcore fans that attended. It was also an emotional experience since most of the audience walked out when The Ozark Mountain Daredevils (OMD) failed to show. Nevertheless, Procol Harum played a full concert, and the remaining audience was delighted and very appreciative, calling them back for 2/3 encores, and singing along on Whiter Shade of Pale. It was one of the best concerts I have *ever* attended. This web page has the supporting band for 730605 as OMD and 730606 as Brewer & Shipley. I did not attend the Kansas City 730605 concert, so I don't know for sure who actually played. But the OMD was supposed to play at the Wichita concert, and they never showed. I never missed them. Quite rightly so.'

Leo Sayer

Laurence Pointon writes: I can perhaps help with a correction. You have a concert listing which refers to a concert in Dunstable. I live there and think that the reference to Friars Civic Hall is wrong. There was a 'Queensway Hall' here (now torn down to make way for a supermarket!) which hosted many a great concert. The Friars venue was in Aylesbury and also hosted many a fine band. Back in the day we were spoilt for choice for a night out – innit – if I can get any further clarification I will post it.
