The Writing on the Billboard

At long last the truth ...

... about Brooker's Flatulence and the Two Wilsons

The BillBoard Music Guide CD-Rom [1997] distributed by SoftKey in the UK contains wild and disturbing variations on the liner credits to the Procol albums. It breaks down like this:

On all albums Keith Reid is credited as contributor.

For the original Deram 18008 : the notes are as normal but in addition we find: Matthew Fisher: guitar, keyboards. The reissue disc on Intercords 1972 is credited as only Gary Brooker: Harmonica, Keyboards, Vocal. This is his normal 'base' definition throughout these notes and I will thus define it as 'normal' for what follows.

As 'normal' but Brooker is also listed as: contributor; Matthew Fisher; guitar, keyboards. PLUS M Fisher: contributore.

Gary Brooker: Guitar, harmonic, piano, 'cello, keyboards, recorder, vocal, wind, bells; Matthew Fisher: organ, guitar, piano, rhythm guitar, keyboards, marimba, recorder, vocal.

HOME

As 'normal' but: Keith Reid: Guitar, voices, contributor.

BROKEN BARRICADES

[Mobile Fidelity] as 'normal': Chris Copping: organ, bass, keyboards.

EDMONTON

As 'normal':

Chris Copping: Bass, Organ, Harpsichord, Keith Reid: narrator, contributor.

GRAND HOTEL

Swingle Singers: Vocals

Christiane Legrand, Vocal, Voices

BJ Wilson: to this point was listed as only drums: here he is given as percussion, drums.

EXOTIC BIRDS AND FRUIT

BJ Cole: steel guitar.

We now have, in addition to BJ Wilson: Drums, Barrie Wilson: Percussion, Drums.

PROCOL'S NINTH

As 'normal' but: Gary Brooker is now listed as Voices also. Chris Copping: organ, bass, keyboards.

SOMETHING MAGIC

As 'normal' but: Chris Copping: bass, keyboards. Peter Solley: organ, synthesiser, keyboards.

Now we have: BJ Wilson: Drums plus Barrie Wilson: Drums

THE PRODIGAL STRANGER
