One Eye to the Future

Procol Harum live in 2007 - a fan's review

After burning the download album for car listening, I got so caught up in what was going on that I kept driving.  Fortunately, gas [petrol] prices have dropped a bit, so I kept going.

I was at these shows, but I hardly remember this collection being this good. The production from Graham Ewins is stunning.  I felt I was sitting onstage.

The playing is amazing.  What these guys are doing is steps above almost any live  recording I have.

Whitehorn is a genius.  Stuff is coming out of his axe that is so subtle and yet powerful that one wonders how some of what I hear is even possible.

Josh's playing allays any fears anyone may have ever had about the continuation of inventive organists within Procol Harum.

Pegg and Dunn just give me everything I would expect, and more, to keep a Procol song moving.

Very enjoyable is how clearly Gary's piano-playing comes through.  We tend to focus so much on his voice that we seem to miss his exceptional fingerings.

This is a must-have recording for many reasons, the best of which is that it clearly represents how dynamic the songs of Procol Harum are when played by a five-piece who clearly love the music and can interpret it properly.

Five stars out of five stars!

The tracklisting (including two hitherto-unrecorded songs) will delight the committed fan and offer a great 'best-of' taster for the non-specialist listener: whoever you are, you'll be hearing a world-class rock band at the top of its game.
