In the Quiz show Så skal det låta on Swedish TV1, Eurovision Song Contest winners the Olsen Brothers performed A Whiter Shade of Pale on the edition broadcast 25 January 2002.
Two teams compete in various musical questions, mostly involving guessing a song's name, and then singing the right song. Each team consists of two contestants, usually singers or actors and a piano player. The concept should be well-known in various countries. In Norway the very popular 'sister' programme is called Beat for Beat.
In the video clip one of the teams included the Danish group the Olsen Brothers. The task was to guess a song after being given up to three clues. A correct answer would give three points if solved after the first clue, two points if two clues were needed, and so on.
Unfortunately the first clue didn't get recorded, but the rest are here, including the Olsen Brothers' ad hoc performance of the right answer. Lots of misheard words here!
The clues given:
For 3 points: this was a huge hit in the Hippie-inspired 60s, and included references to a colour
For 2 points: the song started with a long, beautiful organ solo
For 1 points: in Swedish the refrain ends with "skiftade till en hvitare ton av blekhet"
See how Procol Harum fans the Olsen Brothers, and their young female competitors, solved this extremely difficult question.
