After leaving Procol Harum, drummer Bobby Harrison put Freedom together in 1969, and this, their second album, from 1970, gets its first release on CD. Coming out of British beat boom and influenced by the US West Coast scene, there are strong elements of excellent blues-rock here.
Going for the power-trio format (elements of Cream around), with Harrison taking on lead vocals, the result is much heavier than his previous band. Ain't No Chance To Score is the outstanding track, an almost Quo-like boogie, only heavier and with some neat guitar soloing. Blues fans will recognise Pretty Woman too.
Sadly, Freedom only lasted for two more albums, with Bobby Harrison going on to form SNAFU. Not the most polished sound, but worth checking out.
