CALE, JOHN
Clean-living classically-trained Welsh musician of chequered solo
career and early Velvet Underground allegiance.
Journalists found similarities of Matthew Fisher's solo work with his and some felt his song Ship of Fools to be Harumesque notwithstanding it borrows from Prokofiev rather than Bach. He used Chris Thomas as a band member and producer possibly as a result of Chris's work on Grand Hotel. John was the producer of a very obscure Jennifer Warnes album on which she covered Magdalene My Regal Zonophone.
CHEAP TRICK
US Stadium rockers of great success in the 70s.
Had a legal run-in with Keith Reid over the song Let Her Go which he claimed to have an input to as Let it Roll. They elected to release the album with 'credit pending' for this song on the liner notes in response to this dispute.
CLAPTON, ERIC
Wealthy singer-songwriter and clothes acquisitionist. Had early success in the Yardbirds who much later worked with Matthew Fisher. Has fished with Gary Brooker who was a member his band: this is the source of the Clapton guest appearance on his Lead Me to the Water album.
Few Procol songs were played on the Clapton band tours but recordings of A Salty Dog in Seattle exist. Clapton was also in the Kate Bush benefit gig band with Gary in it.
COUNTRY JOE AND THE FISH
Hippies better known for political and comedic overtones than
music per se. Played two nights on bill with Procol at the
Fillmore East August 1970 with Ken Hensley's Toe Fat as the other
band.
