FAIRPORT CONVENTION
UK folk rock pioneers, still going long after their leading
lights have gone. Gary Brooker has
played as a guest with them a few times in 1990 playing Conquistador
and A Whiter Shade of Pale at the Half Moon Club in
Putney and at the Cropredy
Festival. In August 1995, Procol
played Cropredy, the Fairport-run festival with Fairport
fiddler Ric Saunders in an impromptu guest spot on Conquistador.
Fairport member Dave Pegg's son Matt has played with Procol Harum on occasions since 1993.
FERRY, BRYAN
Roxy Music leader, former art teacher and aspiring lounge
lizard. In the 1990s employed Robin
Trower as his guitarist and producer. Also worked with Chris Thomas as producer possibly as a
result of being in the vicinity of early 70s Procol Harum studio
sessions.
FLOWERPOT MEN
Group formed to cash in on the summer of love '67 who struck it big with Let's Go to San Francisco. Instigators-writers Carter and Lewis and lead (session) singer Tony Burrows sing harmonies on Matthew Fisher's Play the Game.
Fisher has also played with Flowerpot drummer Carlo Little in Screaming Lord Sutch's band, and Flowerpot organist Jon Lord later found fame with Deep Purple. Lord has played A Whiter Shade of Pale on stage and was (I think!) featured on the Green Bullfrog sessions on which Fisher also plays.
FOCUS
Dutch prog-rock combo with prominent role for flute who had some big singles in the early 70s. Guitarist Jan Akkerman covered A Salty Dog in later times.
