'Too Many Poets'

The Chalice (Cliff West)

Key to authors' pseudonyms

A man he seemed but then again
The cloak was dark and hid his eyes
But there shone the mind’s refrain
Within the bowl of brightness.

Before me now he set the tale
In spiral coils whose name is time
Would destiny or chance prevail
Within the realms of oneness.

The chalice rose and held aloft
With hands in pre dreams visualised
To set the course in lighting soft
Between the hills of darkness.

I took the chalice, smelt the brew
It could bring death or life renew
Would I sip or cast aside
The challenge there before me.

The spirit of the cloak was gone
No questions for to answer
No chance to ask about the one
Who dwelt within the dimness.

The chalice rose and held aloft
With hands in pre dreams visualised
I set my course in lighting soft
Between the hills of darkness.
