Having received a plethora of telephone calls and e-mails from LA's Allen 'One-Eye' Edelist reporting the earliest stages of his Winter rock'n'roll pilgrimage to Europe – kicking off with a sold-out home-town gig by Roy Wood's Army, and running to such fine details as the toilet-stops of German cab-drivers – BtP was not at all surprised to receive the following set of telephone-photos of Geoff Whitehorn on stage near Dusseldorf with Chappo's band, followed by a call from Herr von Weissenhorn himself, who was in excellent spirits and thoroughly enjoying the tour.
Geoff told us he had spotted Chief Whaler Michael Ackerman in last night's crowd, and was hoping to see other friendly Procoholic faces in Hannover, on the penultimate gig of the present tour. He reported that Roger Chapman was retiring early to preserve his voice; but we can be pretty certain that Geoff and Al will be carousing until the wee small hours. From One-Eye's point of view the Shortlist had played a high-energy gig that had captivated the crowd, and needless to say, Geoff had been at the musical forefront.
Good shot of Geoff's new Strat, with his signature pickups (story here)
All Procoldom owes One-Eye a debt of gratitude, partly since his resources and energy enable us to taste his far-flung musical experiences vicariously, and partly because his amiable excesses allow the rest of us, mere fanatics, occasionally to feel relatively normal. :-)
Thanks Al!
