Does anyone really know the running-order for this famous concert? The first five (some would say, nine) items listed occur on the famous live album – possibly they were played in the order shown, possibly not. The next three have been issued, notably on the Salvo remastered re-release ... though two of them are rehearsal recordings only. Repent Walpurgis was certainly played, but only the piano section (the entire Bach prelude) is known still to exist. Famously, a lot of the pieces were played more than once; and of course Chris Copping and the orchestra also tackled the Adagio (supposedly by Albinoni, and which Procol later recorded as one side of their all-instrumental French single on Chrysalis). Until such time as an audience recording or an ear-witness report come to light, the data on this page will have to be regarded as provisional. |
