Pat Keating writes:
I have the Ringo / Gary video from Pine Knob (Detroit) 1997. The
quality of picture and sound is excellent and very professional.
Gary's songs, which are the only ones I really care about, are
exceptional – The Devil Came from Kansas, A Salty
Dog (solo), Conquistador, and AWSoP (2 verses
only).
Devil is excellent. Gary's solo Salty is, in a hyphenated word, spine-tingling. On Conquistador, the only mistake is that, for some bizarre reason, Gary jumps from piano to Hammond organ for the solo. He does this very badly <G>.
On AWSoP, Mark Rivera does an outstanding job on Hammond! He really captures Matthew Fisher's original melody and feel. (Blast away, Joan! <G>)
Gary also does a great job in general on backup vocals and a few solos during the other songs. To me, the only other stand-out songs are Jack Bruce's White Room, Sunshine of your Love, and maybe one other Cream song that I can't remember right now, and Simon Kirke's Shooting Star. Then, of course, there's the drivel from Ringo and Peter Frampton.
