Prize Competition!

Winners of the first two Esoteric Records Procol Harum reissues

Thanks to everyone who entered this competition for the 2CD reissue of Procol Harum 1967 or the 3CD reissue of Shine on Brightly from Esoteric Records.

There's was just one clue, and it used a substitution code – in which numbers corresponded to letters of the alphabet – to represent a personal name used in one of the songs heard on these five discs.

We received No Wrong Answers At All – from a healthy postbag – for the first time ever in all these years of BtP quizzes.

Standards are slipping.

Of course there was a clue: epithet + forename. So a quick cruise through the words of the two albums would have made it pretty clear that we were looking at Phallus Phil! The green divider indicated the lengths of the two words.

All you needed to do was compare these numbers ...

18 / 14 / 15 / 12 / 16 / 17 / 20 / 18 / 14 / 14 / 12

... with the tracklistings of the two albums. Since there was only one song that was No 18 and one that was No 20, you could immediately supply the P, the S and the P ... and then the answer was in your hand, as it were. Sorry it was so painfully straightforward.

P / H / A / L / L / U / S / P / H / I / L

The names of all those who sent correct answers were put into the BtP Homburg, and four winners were drawn as follows:

1 Pedro Jesús López Quintana wins the 2CD reissue of Procol Harum 1967
2 Markku Huttunen wins the 3CD reissue of Shine on Brightly
3 Manfred Kaufmann wins the 2CD reissue of Procol Harum 1967
4 François-Xavier Lejeune wins the 3CD reissue of Shine on Brightly

The prizes aren't immediately available: the CDs come out in June. If your name's on the list above, please send your 'real' world address to us, and we'll be ready to get the CDs out to you (we're hoping this will be a good fortnight or so before the official release). Once again, thanks to Vicky at Esoteric Records for supplying the prizes, which we received on 15 September 2015.

If your name's not on the list ... watch out for the next Esoteric Competition, as A Salty Dog and Home are also receiving the Esoteric treatment and should be with us later in the year.
