Prize Competition!

Win the lavish new Esoteric Records Procol Harum reissues

Enter this competition and win either the 2CD reissue of Procol Harum 1967 or the 3CD reissue of Shine on Brightly  from Esoteric Records.

There's just one clue, and it uses a substitution code – in which numbers correspond to letters of the alphabet – to represent a personal name used in one of the songs heard on these five discs.

The name will be something like 'Pearl' or 'Savage Rose' (though we know those examples aren't from the albums in question). Note that 'Savage Rose' is an epithet + forename. Not that that's a clue, of course ...

To win, you'll just send us the name. Simple!

A short example, with working. Say the coded message was 2 / 17 / 17 / 18

You'll convert the numbers into letters by referring to the track listings here and here. Read on...

Start with the  2.

Look at the track listings of all five discs and make a note of the initial letter of the song names of all the tracks whose numbers are 2.

2. Homburg [Extended Stereo Version, Advision, August 1967]

PH67 2

2. Shine On Brightly SOB 1
2. Shine On Brightly SOB 2
2. Seem To Have The Blues (Most All The Time) [Mono] SOB 3

2. She Wandered Through The Garden Fence

PH67 1

The initial letters of the song-names start with either H or S

Next we do 17

17. In Held ‘Twas In I (Look To Your Soul / Finale) SOB 3

17. Kaleidoscope

PH67 2

17. Understandably Blue

PH67 1

The initial letters of the song-names start with I or K or U

Next we do 17 again

17. In Held ‘Twas In I (Look To Your Soul / Finale) SOB 3

17. Kaleidoscope

PH67 2

17. Understandably Blue

PH67 1

The initial letters of the song-names start with I or K or U

And finally we do 18

18. Pandora’s Box [Instrumental, Advision, 24 August 1967]

PH67 1

The initial letter of the song-name starts with P.

So, although some numbers represent more than just one letter, it's not difficult to make a word ... sung on these 5 CDs, and also a name ... from the available options.

The answer, in our example, must be 'Skip'.

(
OK, it's not used as a name in 'Skip Softly' ... but there are people known by the word)

That's how to do it. Now here's the real question.

What name, sung in one of the songs heard on these five Esoteric CDs, is represented by the following numbers?

18 / 14 / 15 / 12 / 16 / 17 / 20 / 18 / 14 / 14 / 12

Track listings: 2CD Procol Harum / 3CD Shine on Brightly
If you want to refer to Procol song-words, please find the index here

Simply send your answer to webmaster@procolharum.com before the end of 12 May 2015.

The names of those who send correct answers will be put into the BtP Homburg, and four winners will be drawn. The first and third get one copy each of the 2CD reissue of Procol Harum 1967; the second and fourth get one copy each of the 3CD reissue of Shine on Brightly. The prizes aren't immediately available: the CDs come out in June.

Thanks to Vicky at Esoteric Records for supplying the prizes, which we received on 15 September 2015
Apologies to all competitors for such a transparent and undemanding conundrum

Many thanks to Jane Clare at the West Australian Symphony Orchestra for ensuring this puzzle passes BtP's demanding quality-control standards; that's to say, it's definitely do-able.
