Mickey Jupp ... he of the many Procol connections ...

You're invited to take part in The Juppathon ... for charity

The Juppathon is a celebration of the incredible song writing talents of Mickey Jupp. The Juppathon will also raise funds for a very worthy cause: Little Havens Children’s Hospice, the only children’s hospice in Essex, UK. Artists or bands will be sponsored by their fans, friends, relatives or even their own members, to play any Mickey Jupp song at one of their gigs, on any date before 31 March 2013.

Mickey Jupp has had his songs covered by many artists, including Gary Brooker, Elkie Brooks, Roger Chapman, Dr Feelgood, Dave Edmunds, Chris Farlowe, The Judds, The Kursaal Flyers, Nick Lowe, Rick Nelson, The Searchers and The Swinging Blue Jeans. These songs have been covered in myriad styles.

John Bobin (who has worked with Mickey in five bands) has nearly fifty acts committed to this project so far and is talking to another ten at present. He aims to enlist one hundred acts. Here is a link to the relevant page on Havens Hospices website:

The acts who have kindly agreed to sing a Juppy song are varied and include Dr Feelgood and Linda Lewis. In the list are three bass guitarists, one drummer and one guitarist who have all appeared with Mickey in several of his bands. This just goes to show how highly his song writing talents are regarded amongst his peers.

If you would like to sing a Juppy song to help the children’s hospice you can contact John by e-mail: johnwdbobin@yahoo.co.uk or if you want to make donation to encourage the participants and to help Little Havens please visit
