Shine On - The Best of the Whalers

Artist profile: Sadolin, Bjørn & Arenholt (Denmark)

Something Following Me (Brooker-Reid) , Kaleidoscope (Brooker-Reid) 3:10

Bøje Arenholt (bass and vocal), Søren Sadolin (Hammond) and Christian Bjørn Petersen (drums) performed these energetic Brooker / Reid covers during a one-night stand in August 1995 at a long-defunct Copenhagen café, 'The Cellar'; the recording was arranged as an afterthought, direct to DAT from the soundboard. 'Christian Bjørn and I were playing in a well-established trio called "The Stage",' Bøje recalls. 'At a festival we met Søren, and we immediately agreed that PH was our all-time favourite, and decided to make a 'hobby-band' out of our interest in the music of the 60s.' Other songs played that night were Soul Kitchen and The Changeling (The Doors) and Sunshine Of Your Life (Cream) on which Søren forsook his wild Hammond for some wild guitar!

The three members have various occupations beside their musical lives; Christian Bjørn (drums) is a social worker, Søren Sadolin (organ) runs a small recording studio in the suburbs of Copenhagen, and Bøje is a free-lance sound-engineer, dubbing awful cartoons in Danish for Disney, Warner, etc. ('I hate that job, but I have to eat')
