What was it with Paramounts bass-players and the lure of academia? Chris Copping went off to university, and now we learn this about Diz Derrick, thanks to his step-son, Jolyon Green:
I enjoyed your Paramounts material, particularly as Diz Derrick is my step-father! He uses the slightly less glamorous 'Graham' rather than Diz now. I sent him some of your web-pages on the Paramounts and he said they brought back some amusing memories.
I am afraid I can't provide any memorabilia material for your web page – Graham doesn't have anything from those days. After he left the group, he became disillusioned with the pop scene and decided not to pursue a commercial musical career.
He went to Leeds University where he studied for a degree and masters in music and now runs a very successful business teaching the flute.
He is a member of a classical music quartet and occasionally plays in an early modern chamber music group called Estampe.
Graham sometimes composes classical and early modern music.
I hope this gives you some idea of 'whatever happened to Diz Derrick'.
Thanks, Jolyon!
