Niels-Erik
Mortensen reports:
Tuesday 27 Oct 1998 the newspaper Information in
Copenhagen published a lengthy interview with Bill Wyman (interviewer:
Ole Knudsen). The rest of the gentlemen of the press kept their
distance ...
For BtP I have translated a few quotations especially concerning his co-operation with Gary ...
Now it is all about quality
'In the lobby (of the Hotel Weber) some of the musicians sat
waiting. And The Rhythm Kings are not just anybody, so there they
were: ex-Procol Harum band leader Gary
Brooker, Georgie Fame (nowadays best known as Van Morrison's
preferred organist and arranger) and the guitarist of all
guitarists, Albert Lee, who has played with God (Eric Clapton)
and just about anyone else.'
Wyman
I tried not to sing on our last album Struttin' Our Stuff but
I just didn't succeed having my way.'
Knudsen
But your voice actually fits very well your kind of music now.
Yes, but please remember that I'm working together with such wonderful singers as Georgie Fame, Gary Brooker and Paul Carrack. In this case it's quite hard to come forward.
'For me, everything is about quality nowadays. And to be able to do just what you like to do. When playing with the Stones, we'd always have to compromise. Some of it was fun, some of it was definitely not.'
