Why the Procol Harum chap's gentle vocal creak never took him any further is odd, but waiting until 1979 to record a solo début of sub-Christopher Cross soft rock was not clever. Leaping forward, Within Our House is a choir-backed benefit recorded live at Brooker's local Surrey church in 1996, closing with a predictably baroque versh of A Whiter Shade of Pale. Now he's in Ringo Starr's band, poor lamb.
