Eric Clapton, the Complete Recording Sessions, 1969-1992

Origin of two Brooker solo album tracks

From Eric Clapton the Complete Recording Sessions, 1969-1992 by Marc Roberty, NY, St Martin's Press, 1993.

Pages 113-114
"...Eric had recruited Gary Brooker as unofficial musical director for the group and immediately set about recording his new album. The sessions
produced some fairly uninspired results. It is difficult to pinpoint blame; maybe it was Eric simply being lazy, maybe it was the band being too laid
back, or perhaps Glyn Johns in his role as producer was not assertive enough.

Whatever the reason, the album was finished and mastered and cassette copies were sent round to various RSO executives. It was to be called Turn Up Down, but all concerned decided that it was not good enough to release.

Another Ticket is a superb album. The first single, I Can't Stand It, received a lot of air play, and both album and single were set to do well. Unfortunately, Eric became seriously ill only eight dates into a huge US tour, resulting in the cancellation of the remainder of the itinerary. With no promotion, the album disappeared fairly quickly from the charts. A great shame, as it is one of the bluesiest albums Eric produced. The last two
numbers were released on Gary Brooker's second solo album Lead Me To The Water."
