A Paramounts pinup

The raggedness of this pinup reminds us that the materials in the scrapbook were collected by a nine-year-old, not by a professional archivist! Pam remembers reading Jackie and Fab, and she even wrote to Bunty 'about my famous brother', though she thinks the letter was never printed. Which of the pinups did she fancy most? Diz was not really her type, she recalls … and Gary drew most of the attention, as he was the leader.

Pam remembers a teacher at Junior School, however, who was also a Paramounts fan, and who liked to ask her all about where the band was playing and what they were doing. So if you're still a fan, Miss Hopwood, do get in touch! (RC)

This colour shot was part of the famous Poison Ivy session. To promote the single Poison Ivy / I Feel Good All Over (Parlophone R5093) The Paramounts did this photo session in November 1963. The first time a shot of this session was used was in an ad in Record Mirror on 7 December 1963 (on the cover no less!).

My educated guess is this page came from a magazine called Boyfriend. Exactly the same photo was also published in Fabulous (2 May 1964) (thanks, Frans Steensma: more from Frans here)
