Band du Lac tee-shirt

Designed by Spencer 'Grand Hotel' Zahn • June 2011

Shortly before Gary Brooker's spectacular Band du Lac concert in early June 2011, US artist Spencer Zahn vouchsafed BtP a glimpse of the special design he'd promised Gary for the event. It said simply, 'Band du Lac 2011 deluxe' and was completed with his characteristic 'SZ' monogram, familiar to all Procol Harum fans from Spencer's illustrations for the Grand Hotel booklet (although, curiously, not all the images therein are signed). As Spencer wrote, 'I promised Gary I’d design and make a very limited edition of shirts for the Band du Lac bandmates [it’s ‘Deluxe' because ...]. And
so I did the Polo Shirts with this design. All hand-done by Mr Zahn with his International Award-Winning Typeface overlayed on the Image [it’s Art, man]'

The white polo-shirts were duly presented to everyone who played in the last-ever Band du Lac, and very nice they look ...
