POSTPONED
Procol Harum will
play at Hampton Pool, supported by the excellent Caravan
(thanks, Mark Doyle)
Hampton Pool, High Street, Hampton, TW12 2ST (What3Words
geoposition ///feast.trips.swims). It's about fifteen miles
from Big Ben.
Projected timings:
gates open 18:45, or 19:00 at the latest. Caravan start to play 19:30; interval
20:40; 21:05 Procol Harum start to play; 22:35 end of show.
Booking link is here (read the Terms and
Conditions carefully). This venue has a large, loyal, local following, so the gigs almost always sell out when a major band is playing. You're paying 42.50 GBP for the music (as at Under the Bridge), plus a TicketTailor agency commission. |
Nearby Hampton Court is a fascinating place to explore on the day of the show (you surely won't want to miss the Chapel there, where the great-grandfather of one of the BtP Webmasters – as 'Musician in Ordinary' to Queen Victoria for 44 years – was the royal organist). If you're staying in central London, you can take a boat trip from Westminster to Hampton Court ... about three hours, and 19 GBP per head. The Bell Inn at Hampton is a good place to eat / drink pre-show. The Bell Inn overlooks the Thames, and a minute or so down the road to your left you may spot David Gilmour's floating studio, The Astoria (as depicted in Pink Floyd's The Division Bell artwork) which is large enough for a 90-piece orchestra to play on the deck. There may well not be such an orchestra there on the day of your visit, however.
There's unmetered parking in residential streets around Hampton Pool ... or see below for public transport advice.
