Mary's Miscellany (11)

Procol images from BtP and other sources, with new commentaries and captions by Mary Roussey

Matthew Fisher on organ – I’ve always wondered, how does he know whether to use finger 2 or finger 3 in a particular bar?
I would imagine it is important to use the correct one? Regardless, the sum of the parts
creates another dimension to each song

A Homburg is a semi-formal hat of stiff felt, characterised by a single dent running down the center of the crown (called a “gutter crown”),
a grosgrain hatband, a stiff brim shaped in a “kettle curl” and a bound edge brim trim. Who knew?  This American girl had never even
heard of such a thing before hearing this song.  Does Gary’s hat in this photo fit the description?
Who knows -- I barely understand the description itself.  Whatever – Gary looks very resplendent!

Psychedelic Harum at Fillmore East, 1968. Wonder why Matthew and Gary's stage spots
are reversed?
This is a backward-y photo!

Keith and Matthew – both looking rather pensive and preoccupied.  I wonder what they were pondering?

A shot of BJ Wilson, also reproduced in The Ghosts of A Whiter Shade of Pale

Gary Brooker and his brilliant, distinctive signature voice.  Here’s to wishing sound could come through photographs.

Gary Brooker, Mick Grabham and Alan Cartwright – music is perhaps the most powerful and pervasive force on earth

Gary Brooker still going strong at the helm in 2018.

Gary Brooker’s courageous reappearance for the second half of the show after falling
when exiting the stage at the Royal Festival Hall in March of 2017
