Heidi Widmer writes to 'Beyond the Pale': 'Paul Jones hosted his annual Christmas charity shows in Cranleigh, Surrey, on 16 and 17 December 2013. The house band and special guests are always kept a secret and it was a great pleasure when Paul Jones introduced Gary Brooker towards the end of Monday’s show. He performed four songs: Kansas City, Hoochie Coochie Man, Great Balls of Fire and A Whiter Shade of Pale (with piano chords intro / No Woman No Cry).
Gary told us that he was on the way home from a Christmas dinner with his band, Procol Harum, that took place at a curry restaurant in Guildford! He made us all smile with several funny remarks and bringing the show to a close contributed vocals to a Christmas song with everyone on stage.
The house band was The Bad Apples (Robert Hart on vocals, Jimmy Copley on
drums, Ian Jennings on bass, Mick Rogers and Micky Moody on guitar). The other
special guests on Monday night were Dom Pipkin, John Etheridge and Liane
Carroll.
Photographs didn’t turn out great due to bad lighting. I also tried a few
panorama shots which I edited a bit.' Thanks,
Heidi!
