Gary Brooker at 'Blues on the Farm', June 2013

Pictures by Gudrun Schwarz

Gary Brooker guested with Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings on 21 June 2013 at the annual 'Blues on the Farm' festival near Chichester, UK. On the second of his numbers, the crowd sang along full blast, our photographer notes. 'I noticed that Gary watched his step, moving slowly and carefully, yet of course he was in good voice. Later my friend and I met Gary and his wife on the way to their car: we thanked him and wished him a good weekend!' writes Gudrun.

An online review says, of the Rhythm Kings, ' ... it’s probably fair to say that they never really, truly hit their stride – though things improved markedly after a superb guest spot from Gary Brooker with, inevitably, A Whiter Shade of Pale.' Watch and listen here ... with an absent bass line from Bill Wyman!

Also on the bill, members of No Stiletto Shoes: Andy Fairweather Low (guitar) and Frank Mead (tenor sax)

Gary still not sitting down

The setlist shows GB's two guest numbers – evidently the keys they're in are immaterial!
