'Too Many Poets'

Chris Copping's demos, continued

Chris Copping kindly adjudicated the 'Too Many Poets' competition that this website ran in the weeks running up to the Palers' Convention in June. In order to judge if the song-lyrics would work metrically, he roughed out instrumental demos for the ones he liked best.

Delightfully this work has now considerably developed, and with Chris's permission we here excerpt some of the music in progress … the vocal demos are mp3, none longer than a minute … enjoy these fruits from the branch of Procoldom down under …imagine them on an album …

Download these short extracts and enjoy them

Wanderers in the Dark
[Mel Drum]

vocal demo in progress
[Copping / Scott]

Darkest Before the Dawn
[Ramblin' Ron]

vocal demo in progress
[Copping / Solly]

Cream of the Crop
[Eve Ryman]

vocal demo in progress
[Copping / Clare]

The Life I Know
[Chuck S]

vocal demo in progress
[Copping / Scott]

The Sad Ascent
[6]

vocal demo in progress
[Copping / Taylor]

The music you hear on the demos is all written and played by Chris Copping, with the collaboration of Chris Stockley (guitar), and of vocalists Ron Boromeo, Stephen 'Doc' Wallace and Robert Price.

Please download all five files and give them a good listen. A good forum for discussing them would be the Procol list: to subscribe, visit http://mail.progrock.org/guest/RemoteListSummary/Procol
