Time for a
Dundee return Sir, I was surprised and delighted to read your recent report of the enduring popularity of A Whiter Shade of Pale, a bit hit in the 'Summer of Love' (1967). I have been following Procol Harum for 42 years and can assure your readers they are still going strong. A superb DVD of an orchestral concert I attended at Ledreborg Castle (a Danish Glamis) is due to be released on May 11. It is one of their strengths that their music blossoms in a symphonic setting. A dream would be that the RSNO would invite them to play, as the RPO, LSO and the Hallé have done in the past. The band have appeared only once at the Caird Hall (1
October 1970, with Jethro Tull). I have lobbied their manager Chris
Cooke to return to Dundee, at a venue he is well aware of, having
represented none other that Billy Connolly on his last visit here. He
reckons I should be speaking to the hall management or other promoters
... or asking the music-loving public of Dundee? |
