The Procol Harum Project • 14 February 2009

The Huleroed Inn gig reviewed and depicted by Thomas Raa Olsen

Søren Borello piano / lead vocal / harmonica; Poul Achton drums / backing vocal; Claus Nielsen guitar;  Gunnar Midtiby bass / backing vocal;  Benny Tworek Hammond / keyboard

Looking at the set-list for an evening with Procol Harum Project there are two possibilities: either this is a bunch
of strongly self-overvalued guys, or you will be spending an evening with talent, joy and love for the original material.

We start in chronological order with a nice version of Conquistador followed by great interpretations
until A Salty Dog after which the Band had a well deserved break back in the bar in Hulerød Kro (Inn)
which is a lovely venue that should accommodate more events.

With a good wide stage and nice depth in the room you have a great sound throughout the venue.

After the interval the ambitious set-list continues and nobody leaves this lovely concert, without admitting "they can play it all".

There was indeed so much support for The Procol Harum Project that they had to start again on the set-list because the audience wanted encores.

As Søren said, "We have not practised more, and we will only play what we can vouch for, so we start all over again".

I can only urge all Procol Harum fans to rally around The Procol Harum Project.
They do not do re-interpretations of Procol songs, but try successfully to play the original material.
