Procol Harum's 40th Anniversary, 21 July 2007

Palers' Band photographs from Martin Awsop (2)

BtP presentsProcol Harum's 40th Birthday Celebrations 20 / 21 July 2007

Into the Flood: Ian Hockley on piano, Gary Shepard guitar, Peter and Kari on the brass, Roland on bass;
Lots of backing vocalists on the riser behind, and percussionists near the Hammond

A moment's interplay between Gary and Peter

Stephen 'Doc' Wallace gave one of the speeches at the Palers' Party, and presented the website
with an album of rare antipodean Procol photos: here Jens thanks him for his kind words

The Emperor's New Clothes, one of the best Paler performances we've ever heard:
Antonio on vocal, Peter on drums, Gary on bass; partly visible, Alberto Gallarini on the guitar

Simple Sister featuring Dave Ball on lead guitar: Søren Borello lead vocal, Andrè Romkes on drums

Simple Sister: various players present the 'chattering pianos' section from the middle ... Don, Peter, Søren with Roland

Simple Sister: Ian Hockley approaching through the audience, Antonio Costa Barbé approaching from stage left

Simple Sister: Antonio Costa Barbé plays from the wrong side of the keyboard ...

... and gradually moves round to a more conventional position as Ian approaches the keyboard from under the piano
 'Doc' Wallace on back-up guitar

Finally just two pianists remain to finish the song: son and father, Peter and Roland.
The antipodean photo-album remains safely on the piano despite the foregoing shenanigans

At the end of the Palers' Band performances, One-Eye springs a surprise presentation on the webmasters

A bottle for Jens, and a Harrods hamper (held by merch supremo Andrea Ciccioriccio) for Roland: thanks, all!
