'Beyond the Pale' has in the past hosted marvellous conventions for Procol Harum fans from all over the world in Guildford (2000), Kristiansand (2001), Manchester (2001) and Los Angeles (2003) where we have eaten, drunk, and played together on the eve of Procol performances – and where we have been joined socially by members of the band themselves. In each case we have arranged discounted hotel accommodation as well and everyone has had a fantastic time.

For 2006 'Beyond the Pale' has hired the whole of 'Domus Felix', the spacious Culture House at Lejre ... close by Ledreborg Castle where Procol Harum play their two symphonic shows on the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday, 19 and 20 August.

After each Procol show (ending about 6.00 pm), make your way (about a mile) to Domus Felix (see illustration) for 6.30 pm, when the after-show parties begin nightly. Enjoy the company of other Procol fans from all over the world (and, of course, Procol Harum themselves are top of the guest-list).

Each night, Saturday and Sunday, the Revels will consist of a grand party with Procol film rarities, a special spoken presentation (tbc), a buffet supper, and music from the (international!) Palers' Band: all this is included in the ticket-price (see below). In addition, there will be merchandise for sale, and a well-stocked cash bar with good prices: Denmark is of course famous for its brewing!

Booking for the two evening parties is securely done online at the BtP shop; you won't be sent a physical ticket, but your name will be added to the list on the door, and you will get an e-mail confirmation when this has been done. When ordering, state the name of each person you are buying tickets for. Note that these events are priced to cover costs: venue hire / refreshments / lights / piano, Hammond + Leslie, drums, and so on / amplification and audio-visual gear / administrative expenses: excellent value!

If you book both the Saturday and Sunday parties, there is a bonus: your name(s) will be added to the guest-list for Procol Harum's dress-rehearsal with the orchestra, on Friday 18 August; this rehearsal is otherwise a closed event (thanks, Danish Radio). So make sure you state the name of each person you are booking for, using the 'Add comments about your order' area at the online shop.

For musicians – whatever level of expertise – who would like to play in the Palers' Band, carefully read and fill in this information-gathering page telling us what instrument(s) you play and how much you want to be involved: it's an informal, democratic and ego-free set-up, always tremendously enjoyable, which will be carefully scheduled by Roland from BtP so that everyone gets to do as much as possible of what they'd like. Before we meet, you'll know exactly what Procol / Trower / Fisher songs you're playing – and with whom – so you can practise in advance.

There will also be an informal party for the players on Thursday 18 August, after a couple of days' musical rehearsal. This will probably take the form of a barbecue / pizza-fest, in the sunny garden courtyard at Domus Felix with its agreeable countryside views (see illustration). All being well we can play some music out of doors too!

Monday 21 August	Guided visit to Copenhagen's world-famous Tivoli Pleasure Gardens All are welcome to meet in front of the main entrance, 3 Vesterbrogade, Copenhagen, on Monday 21 August at 4 pm (1600 hrs). At about 4.15 we'll take a stroll through the garden and perhaps later have a bite and possibly a few ales (Guinness and other imported beers are available). We could have a look at the Concert Hall, where Procol played a lot in the 70s. Participants pay their own way, so just send an e-mail to ledreborg@procolharum.dk (up until Friday 18 August) if you'd like to come. Niels-Erik Mortensen will be our guide, and will be easy to recognise, 'wearing a more-or-less complete Procol outfit' as he says. Read more here

Points to note:

The Palers' Base-Camp Hotel allows fans to stay together, and enjoy excellent discounted accommodation: don't book any old accommodation, out in the cold ... stay with the rest of the Procol fans.
Visit this page and send us your details, if you want to play with the Palers' Band. Book for this above (of course, you should join the sessions only if you are also booking one or more of the after-show parties, where the Palers' Band will perform).
For flying in, your airport will be Copenhagen. The gig and basecamp hotel town are pretty close by: all on one train-line.

Lejre, where the Palers' Band meet and rehearse, has a population of only 8,000 or so, yet the area is pretty, and it's rich in history, specially as regards 9th century Viking kings; as mentioned, the railway is very close, so there are good prospects for entertaining partners or friends who won't be playing music all the time: and of course it has Ledreborg castle where Procol Harum will play with orchestra two afternoons running ...
