The concert took place at the recently-refurbished outdoor amphitheatre holding 1,241 persons. Nestled in the Hollywood Hills, it's owned and operated by the County of Los Angeles and located in a county regional park.

Set against a backdrop of cypresses and chaparral, it's relatively intimate: no patron is more than 96 feet away from the stage.

The theatre is open to the sky, as became apparent to everyone to was there when the terrific electric storm began ...

BtP's Palers' Festival in Los Angeles starts on 25 July (Friday). Entitled 'Leaving for the Coast', it will consist of three days of music-making, largely at BB King's Blues Club. There will be two parties there on Monday 28 July, one including a full meal and live music in the afternoon, and one after the Procol Harum concert ... of course, BtP has invited Procol to both parties.

Get to the gig in an automobile

• From the South: take 101 Freeway North, exit at Cahuenga Boulevard, turn right and follow Ford signs into the parking lot.
• From the North: take 101 Freeway South, exit at Barham Boulevard, and following the Ford signs, head south on Cahuenga. A sign for the Ford will direct you to turn left, crossing over the freeway and into the Ford parking lot.

Get there by 'bus

• Metropolitan Transportation Authority Bus Lines #156 and #163 service the Ford from the south.

• Coming from the San Fernando Valley, Bus Line #166 and Metro Rapid Bus Line #750 stop at the Universal City Metro Station where you can pick up the free Ford shuttle for performances.

Get there by Metro (subway)

• Red Line Metro Rail (Subway) + Ford Shuttle: the Red Line provides service between downtown Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, connecting Union Station, the Mid-Wilshire area, Hollywood and North Hollywood. Directions: Exit from the Hollywood/Vine Red Line Station or the Universal City Red Line Station. Take the free Ford shuttle to the theatre for performances.

Shuttle Service: For performances a FREE shuttle to the Ford stops at

• Cherokee parking structure at 1718 North Cherokee, just north of Hollywood Blvd., 1.3 miles from the Ford. Parking costs $3 with validation available at the Ford for evening performances only.
• Hollywood/Vine Red Line Metro Station
• Universal City Red Line Metro Station ... which will take you back to Palers' Base-Camp and the before- and after-show parties at BB King's Blues Club.
