We are delighted to announce that the first legitimate pressing of the Liquorice John Death and the All Stars sessions is now available on CD via Shine On. (see here)
These sessions were recorded in 1972 [sic] when Procol Harum had an all ex-Paramounts line-up of Gary, Robin Trower, Chris Copping and Barrie Wilson. Gary has recently been into a London studio with Chris Thomas, the original Producer, to tidy the tracks up a bit.
Chris Thomas has kindly written the liner notes giving his recollections of the sessions and the ‘mood of the time’. Gary has also written sleeve notes about his schoolfriend, Dave Mundy (Liquorice John). The original artwork was by Dave has been in Robin Trower’s possession for many years, but Robin has kindly loaned it to us. Shine On’s wonderful graphic designer Christine Ayre has tidied it up.
