CELESTIAL WARRIORS
As I stand here deep in the night
Looking east at stars that spangle the sky
Some are planes haunting Heathrow
See the moving landing lights
Teardrops falling on black snow
They shine beyond reasoning why
The Whalers who ride the airwaves
Celestial warriors of some past dawn
Bringing a new yesterday
There’s nothing anyone can say
Will make it another way
Out beyond the pale too far gone
Our greatest moment shining bright
A quarter century dead but still here
Just to see skin grace ivory
With beauty that transcends white
One more chapter in the story
Salty dogs fly the stratosphere
