In true Scandinavian fashion 'Beyond the Pale' is running yet another twelve days'-worth of little Procol Harum quizzes. In 1997 it was anagrams, in 1998 it was cryptic clues about the songs, in 1999 the questions were based on a central Procolesque obsession: The Truth.
But this year, we are inviting hungry Palers (in the words of Beyond the Pale itself) to 'search for treasure trove / scour the seas and scale the globe' … by unwinding a simple trail that will lead to one Procol question each day. The questions will be particularly easy (we want people to win these prizes) and all you will need is a pencil, an internet connection, and some basic Procol knowledge.
Each day we will provide a hyperlink to a page where the treasure trail starts.
Follow that link to the page, and you will notice that it has row of *** asterisks*** in the title line. Read the page … as usual with BtP pages there will be several hyperlinks on it … all you have to do is click on each one, until you find the link that leads another ***asterisked*** page, or to the Question Of The Day … simple!
Of course we may take you through several ***asterisked*** pages before you reach the Question Of The Day … but that's part of the fun, and every page you visit will be packed with Procoloid information, so it won't be a wasted journey.

Enjoy the quizzes daily, starting on Christmas Day, and you could end up owning one or more of our fab Procol Harum prizes, one unique, one almost unique.

How to win: the last instalment, on Twelfth Night (5th January), was accompanied by simple instructions: you will merely have to mail a one-word answer to 'Beyond the Pale': the prizes will go to the senders of the first correct answers we receive.
Last year we had one or two non-winners who claimed, 'You guys tricked me …' so here's fair warning … just read the instruction carefully on the final day!
In the unlikely event of there being fewer winners than prizes this year, early claimants will get more than their fair share!
Prizes will of course be awarded at the absolute discretion of Roland and Jens, who run 'Beyond the Pale', and whose decision will be final; their families are not eligible to enter (hard luck Jane again!).
The solution are here; winners here: see also conundrums from 1997 and 1998 and 1999
