Christmas Quizzes 2019–2020

Solution of the Day : 27 December

These were the What3Words coordinates:

tunes.reframe.tonsils.piano.womb.pirate

The locations concerned were: the Kulturhuset Tromso, Norway; somewhere near Bogota; remotest China; somewhere in the sea off Sierra Leone ... so it really wasn't at all difficult to find the correct one.

Four ancillary clues, of which (only) one is nonsensical

1

At this show Procol played an early song whose one-word title is the first letter of a classical alphabet; it was the first of three consecutive songs all starting with the same letter (using the English alphabet)

Alpha / A Rum Tale / A Salty Dog

2

This was a show at which, David Knights claimed, fans might purchase ‘King Crimson wetsuits’

No. Sadly we're not aware of any utterances by DK from the stage of a Procol concert. Nor have we seen any touring band selling wetsuits, not even those promoting a rival group

3

It was the band’s bassist who declaimed ‘Nothing’s better left unsaid’ towards the end of this concert

True. Matt Pegg took the Keith Reid lines during In Held ...

4

This show took place on a date commonly associated with japes, pranks, trickery and mischief

It did indeed, and therein lay a major clue

So all competitors presumably wrote down the place and date (1 April 2005) in their daily notes.
