Procol's Ninth competition

The Salvo reissues giveaway, November 2009

The nice people at Salvo Records sent BtP this excellent album to give away. As with all BtP's competitions, you simply needed to read and enact a simple instruction, and send us a message ... and this handsome recording could have been yours! Click on the image to see what tracks are on the album ... that's the info you needed ...

As was our wont, we were asking you to listen carefully to some music (of course, the real album sounds much better than our compressed mp3 that follows)

You clicked here to listen to an mp3 medley of songs from the album (left). You'll have heard that some tracks get a long excerpt, some a short one. Including 'raw' tracks there are eleven Brooker/Reid items on the CD and the medley excerpts only ten, so your task was simply to send us the last word of the title of the missing Brooker/Reid song.

Click here to send us the last word of the title of the missing Brooker/Reid song in our medley representing this Salvo re-issue album. The competition ends at 23:59 GMT on Sunday 15 November.

If your answer was correct we put your name in a hat, and conducted the draw during Monday 16 November.

The first name out of the hat won Procol's Ninth ! Hoorah!

The tracks you heard were excerpts from Typewriter Torment, The Final Thrust, Pandora's Box, the 'raw' version of Fool's Gold, Taking the Time, the 'raw' Unquiet Zone seamlessly mutating into the echt Unquiet Zone, the regular Fool's Gold, and Without a Doubt ... with an overlay of the fancy piano intro to the 'raw' Taking the Time. Missing, therefore, was The Piper's Tune, and the last word of the title was 'Tune' ... which was the answer we were looking for.

The lucky winner was Richard Moseley: congratulations to the numerous rivals who were simply unlucky in the hat. There was only one wrong answer, though it came in from several quarters ... 'Week' is not the last word of a Brooker/Reid title.
Richard, send us your geographical address and this fine Salvo/Procol release will soon be on its way to you.
