THE FIRST four Procol Harum albums are being squeezed into a
new 3-CD box which makes a mockery of the notion that they peaked
with Whiter Shade Of Pale. Added to Procol
Harum, Shine On Brightly, A Salty Dog and Home, there is a bonus
CD of rarities which
includes B-sides In The Wee Small Hours Of Sixpence and Long Gone
Geek. A Whiter Shade Of Pale is in stereo, spread over six
minutes, although compiler Henry Scott-lrvine is still searching
for the fabled four-verse version. There are plans for all four
of these albums to
be released as individual CDs in January 1998, in time for
the 30th anniversary of their debut.
These will include futher bonus songs such as Magdalene (My
Regal Zonophone) the proposed single version, Alpha, A Robe Of
Silk and Macgregor.
