Venus Exploding

Words by Keith Reid, outside Procol Harum

Venus Exploding (Keith Reid / Matt Noble)

Released August 2008 on the album The Common Thread by The Keith Reid Project

The moon was in Cancer
The sky was ablaze
The night was on fire
In a strange misty haze
I searched for some meaning
I blamed it on fate
All the signs were deceiving
I could not get it straight
Tossed between dreams and awakening
But when the sky turned round
And the stars fell down
I thought I heard a sound
Venus exploding
Just like a long lost tune
Played from a distant room
Somewhere beyond the moon
Venus exploding

Some blame it on fortune
And some blame it on fate
You can act on your own instincts
Or you can leave it too late
You can get lost in the mirror
You can even turn into stone
Don't try to find no soothsayer
No you've got to find your own way home
And if you're lost between truth and awakening
Tonight when the sky turns round
And the stars fall down
You might hear the sound
Venus exploding
Just like a long lost tune
Played from a distant room
Somewhere beyond the room
Venus exploding

Like a long lost tune
Played from a distant room
Somewhere beyond the moon
Venus exploding
