"The citation for ‘Charitable Services’ was unexpected as after 40 years of playing and singing at international level, I would have imagined a medal for just 'Still being around!' – not for doing something that is a pleasure and so rewarding in itself.
"I would like to thank Françoise, my wife of 35 years, for her tireless support; also all my musical friends and associates who have either invited me to their projects or have joined me in helping to raise funds for many worthy causes.
