Peter and the Wolf

Gary Brooker learns to fly ...

A 'Rock' version of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf was released by the now bankrupt RSO label, through Polydor Limited, in 1975. Catalogue number is 2479 167. In the original work a narrator tells the folk-tale of Peter's encounter with various forest and domestic animals, each character of which is represented by the distinctive sound of particular orchestral instruments. In the new version Gary played an early synthesiser to create the part of 'Bird', originally taken by the flute.
