9 January 2001
A few days later, Gary writes a "thank you" message to the voters, which is relayed to the radio programme through webmaster Jens and aired on 9 January. Here is Gary's message:

A very Happy New Millennium to all your listeners in Norway from us here in England.
The band has just heard that A Whiter Shade of Pale was voted as the favourite song on your programme, and with modern technology it is possible for us to send our thanks to everybody for holding that song so close to their hearts for such a long time!
Procol Harum has always had great memories of playing concerts in Norway, especially our trip up the Sognefjord from Bergen to Trondheim in the 70s.
We haven’t visited since 1992 but the good news is we are coming back for a concert in Kristiansand on 26 May and hope to meet a lot of old and new fans.
We have been very excited about this concert, but now, knowing that Norwegian people still love the band, it will be a very special event.
Once again, thanks to all of you for the honour, and for having such good taste!!
Best regards to Norway.
Gary Brooker – for Procol Harum
After reading this, the programme hosts, Finn Bjelke and Yan Friis, both stated that Gary Brooker had been one of their heroes, and that they were impressed by the fact that one of their heroes had thanked them for something they had done.
