Les Fradkin
Baroque Rocks
Procol Harum have recorded music with audible roots in the Baroque style (or thereabouts!), tipping their Homburgs to Bach, Haydn, Pachelbel and Giazotto (composer of Albinoni's Adagio). The most overt – and fully acknowledged – lift has been from Handel's opera Rinaldo, from which Matthew Fisher derived Fellow Travellers. That song was covered in excitingly hectic style by midi-guitar virtuoso Les Fradkin ('George Harrison' from Beatlemania on Broadway) on the Trace of a Feeling album, and Les is now back with a whole album of Baroquerie. 'It's a blend of Progressive neo classical rock and baroque music featuring Vivaldi, Handel, Bach and new composers,' says Les. 'If you like Yes, Yngwie Malmsteen, ELO, Vivaldi, Steve Vai and great Baroque music, this is for you.' You can buy it at Apple iTunes or from Amazon.com : click here to sample before you buy.
