Record Collector chooses the century's key songs

In a four-part series in Record Collector Spencer Leigh chooses the century's key songs. In the July 1999 issue time has come to address 1967. And Spencer is a wise man, he chooses Procol Harum's A Whiter Shade of Pale. Here are the relevant words from the article:

"This was the age of Aquarius, San Francisco and Beatles All You Need Is Love. But the essence of 1967 was captured in A Whiter Shade of Pale, which still sounds cryptic, with its references to Bach and Chaucer."

He then continues to mention the contenders.

This ad for the Westside records was found in Record Collector's June 1999 issue.
