Carl Wurzbach writes to BtP:
The Music Fair seems to diss the band when they play here.
Last year, the show was not well-advertised and a rather small although I must say very enthusiastic crowd made me feel bad that the boys were playing for so few people. They played a great show, including an orchestra-less In Held 'Twas in I with the audience being very chorus like. Quite a treat.
While this year found us with a much larger, and sell out crowd, the venue had pre-set most of YES's gear on the round, rotating Westbury stage.
This left Gary at his keyboard, at the rear end of the circular stage facing center-stage. You had to look through the gear to see him. The rest of the band set up around him in whatever available space could be found, also in the middle of the stage, surrounded by YES's gear.
Looked much more like a loft rehearsal than a concert.
Still, the band was great. Gary, as always, hitting every note right on, and the rest of the band being Procol despite being hidden and made to look like an after-thought.
Always a wonderful night when I get to sit in the magic and hear everything played so perfectly.
Come on Westbury, treat this band with the grandness it deserves.
