Greetings from Pittsburgh.
You never know what you're gonna get when Procol plays Pittsburgh.
Not because of our heroes, but rather the Pittsburgh crowd can be so unappreciative (for those that recall the Steppenwolf/Starship/Procol Harum billing a few years ago).
However, this time around, the YES dominated crowd was very enthusiasistic .....as was the band itself.
No mere quiet applause, I'm talking hooting/catcalls/whistling, at times thunderous approval after each and every piece.
Of course, the standing ovation too after AWSoP and Conquistador.
The setlist was: Wall Street Blues / As Strong as Samson / Pandora's Box
/ Homburg / An Old English Dream / A Salty Dog / Simple Sister / Cerdes (Outside the Gates of)
/ A Whiter Shade of Pale / Conquistador
Never heard Cerdes live before and it was one of the highlights for me. Matt
was outstanding in a lead role.
Finally, Gary never sounded better. I mean that. Strong and clear all night long. Walking amongst the crowd during the intermission and before YES took the stage, I heard several comments from YES fanatics (talking amongst themselves) as to Gary's voice.
Wish there was more. I'm never really satisfied though.
On to Clearwater and Rosemont to witness this again
