It was 7:00 pm. I looked into the room
where I would witness again the great Procol Harum: there may have
been a dozen people in there. I Took my mom (her 74th birthday) and
went and had a drink.
When we returned about 7:45 the
small venue (holds 986) was about two-thirds full. Many still
gambling, I guess. Took our fourth row centre seats: I was getting
excited.
Just after 8:00 pm they strolled on
to stage. Shine On Brightly instantly brought cheers and
tears from me. Then Homburg, just fabulous. Great solos by
all. Gary was very talkative: asked what we wanted to hear: 'The
Idol', 'Salty Dog', etc were yelled out.
I screamed out, "Did you go see the
falls?" and Gary replied, "Yeah we saw the falls," like 'big deal'.
But he also said, "Saw a Salmon too!" He liked that! So I yelled
back, "Write a song!" LOL.
Anyway Salty Dog and Eye
to the Future were really done well. Grand Hotel was just
awesome. Now Simple Sister rocked the house to the amazement
of the crowd: one of my all time favourites. Kaleidoscope
tore the place up some more. Forgot how cool the intro is.
Conquistador what can be said is another masterpiece.
Majority of the crowd finally stands
up. There was a few of us who stood up for every song. But with such
a small room, with the best sound system in this state, we had to
control ourselves so not to bother everyone.
So happy to hear Whisky Train, their real rocker. Whiter
Shade of Pale: splendid version. The streaming lights over
Gary's head made him look well, Biblical: very nice effect!
Oh my mother, I don't think she took her eyes off Gary for a moment.
It was really nice to take mom we have been watching the DVDS
daily for weeks. Came home and watched them again.
Would have been nice to hear Butterfly Boys and The Idol.
But I was able to hear so many, I cannot complain.
Hope they come back again, and soon.
