The town is easily
reachable by train, and the gig is about eight minutes' walk from the station,
through parkland. If you're coming by car, you'll be driving on the B3, which is
a good omen
There are posters
everywhere. Asia's concert, a week before Procol's, attracted patrons from the
neighbouring
countries of France and Switzerland. The Harum show will have even more
widespread clientele
Here's the stage, set up for a previous event; we don't expect the tables to be there for Procol's show
So it will look more like this
This is the view from the edge of the stage
The building in the background (above) would be a good place for hardcore fans to meet ... it's a moment's walk from the stage
Make a note of the name
Inside, it's elegant in
a somewhat clinical way; worth remembering that Bad
Krozingen is a spa town, not a very rock-n-roll place 364 days of the year
Its very logo lays
emphasis on the curative waters; every other building seems to be a clinic, a
kursaal, or other therapeutic
establishment, and the public -- to judge by appearances -- is largely there for
reasons of health, good or otherwise
Everything's very well signposted with typical efficiency; everywhere light, no darkness to engulf you
The only exotic birds are these specimens of übertopiary
Charming in their way, no doubt
There's a river running through ...
... whichpasses just a few yards behind
the stage. All in all, then, a bucolic, hygienic venue:
just the sort of atypical place where we've seen Procol Harum so often in the
past
