Southend-on-Sea, UK

Unsteady Freddie's photos (1) • Saturday 11 December 2010

Our correspondent is an American who came over the UK for the No Stiletto Shoes concerts in December 2010

He took the hour-long train-ride east from London to Southend in Essex, where Gary Brooker grew up
and met Robin Trower, BJ Wilson and Chris Copping, Paramounters and seminal Procolers

Freddie turns a visitor's eye, or lens, on features of the townscape that a British tourist would probably ignore

We can perhaps infer from these shots that such sites are rarer in Hell's Kitchen

The arrow is puzzlingly disposed

Nice bit of décor, innit

More hoses and pipes in various hues

The traffic-cones without which England's roads would seem incomplete

Yet more roadworks
