FISTS IN THE POCKET : Beyond the Earthly Reality |
|
An elder, smartly dressed, white-haired gentleman is sitting at the piano ... Exactly like it was almost ten years ago, 9 February 1992, in the same Congress Hall in Warsaw. Nothing has really changed since. Perhaps only Gary Brooker (as this is obviously about him) has now less hair on his head. Oh, and instead of old piano-grand there is now a well-worn Roland electric piano. So, the elder, smart dressed, white-haired gentleman strikes the keys and conjures up tones and builds up tunes for Bringing Home The Bacon, Pandora's Box, Homburg, Grand Hotel, A Salty Dog, Conquistador and Repent Walpurgis. And, of course, for A Whiter Shade of Pale. Exactly like many years before. In the same Procol style. With a little or more help from Matthew Fisher on Hammond, Geoff Whitehorn on guitar, Matt Pegg on bass and Mark Brzezicki on drums. And again, as almost ten years ago, there is sorrow at the end, that such an extraordinary night, so unlike to others, happens hardly ever. |
