On the morning of the Palers' Convention our plan was to start rehearsing at about 10 am, having spent an hour setting up the hired backline from a Manchester firm, and the PA that had come up from Bristol with the excellent Mr Jesse James. But the second-floor access, the absence of lifts, and considerable problems with missing bits from the hired drums, meant that a note wasn’t played in earnest until about 11.30 … Richard Beck's camera recorded some work-in-progress:
